Home – A VR Spacewalk

Share:

An experience that puts you at the center of the story, taking you on a journey in space while delivering beautiful and memorable moments. Anyone who has ever dreamed of going to space can now see this dream come true, with the release of this critically-acclaimed VR spacewalk from the BBC and VR production studio REWIND.

Throw yourself into the void 250 miles above Earth in this award-winning VR spacewalk inspired by NASA’s training program and the astonishing experiences of its astronauts. Home puts you at the center of the story, taking you on an emotional and personal journey while delivering beautiful, heart-stopping, and memorable moments.

The premise is that you’re an astronaut with a mission to check the exterior status of the International Space Station. Using your controller, you pull yourself out of the ISS, into (virtual) space. Because there’s no sound in space, the headphones play nothing but white noise during your trip.

You then have to make your way around the ISS, looking for the spot that needs to be fixed. Once you find it, you reach out for a toolkit, but the box spirals out of control – and an explosion throws you into the emptyness of space. You then have to steer your way back to the station using your jetpack, trying not to panic.

Opinion

"An awesome zero gravity space simulation of an emergency situation aboard the ISS. Visuals are spot on. Sounds and voice acting is on point. A great, short space narrative experience. And it's free!"
